About Us:


Ness M Care Foundation is a charity dedicated to supporting activities that will improve the quality of life for people who are cared for in their homes, as well as their carers. We are an independent, international charity based in Peterborough, working throughout the UK and at an international level, which includes South Africa and Zimbabwe. 

 

What we are looking for:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, empathetic and confident volunteer with an interest in their community to help Ness M Care Foundation support socially isolated, medically vulnerable and shielded individuals with weekly face-face befriending around Peterborough.

Availability:


Able to volunteer on a regular basis every week as agreed with your buddy for a minimum of 3 months.

Summary of duties: 

  • To conduct weekly face-to-face befriending visits with elderly, medically vulnerable and shielding individuals in Peterborough.

  • To accompany elderly, medically vulnerable and shielding individuals in Peterborough with activities e.g. shopping, cafe visits, walks in the park or playing board games in their back garden.

  • To provide weekly feedback to support project monitoring, evaluation and reporting.

Qualities and skills required:

  • A friendly and empathetic listening ear.

  • Patience and a warm and friendly attitude.

  • Willingness to follow current advice to keep yourself and others safe.

  • Willingness and ability to ensure that any information you share in relation to Covid-19 is accurate and from a reliable source.

Due to the vulnerable nature of the people we support, we will require two references. We will also require a DBS check, which we will support you with. Further details will be discussed with you as to how these will be obtained.
